Mid January already!

Greetings!

Well we seem to have arrived at mid January already. How did that happen? With today being the 15th, I thought it would be a good idea to give you a progress update.

I have so far resisted the urge to splurge and this week has been my toughest yet...

I started at the gym on Monday night (another resolution that I hope to continue with!) and I had to walk right past the doors of Kurt Geiger, Ted Baker and House of Fraser.
Usually i'd walk straight in, without giving it a second thought, and it was all the more tempting as Kurt Geiger had a massive 'Sale' sign in the window... However, I kept my head down and power walked straight to the gym!

This is a massive step forward for me, as I can never usually walk past any of my favourite shops without going in for a browse. So to say i'm proud of myself is an understatement.

I was at the gym again last night and i've now found a lift that goes straight from the car park to the gym, which means I can bypass the shops! My willpower is getting stronger, but if I can avoid the shops in Westfield altogether, then even better!

But unfortunately, I can't avoid temptation in Ealing Broadway....

This afternoon I had to pop to the Post Office to post 4 pairs of shoes I sold on eBay earlier in the week. It only took about 4 minutes to walk from the car park to the Post Office, but there was massive temptation along the route.

I had to walk past Warehouse, which is one of my favourite clothes shops! My wardrobe is full of Warehouse clothes as they do the best work wear. My favourite skinny black jeans also come from there. How did I deal with this? I kept my eyes facing forward and didn't even glance in the windows!

Next up was Office... As you know, I am a massive shoeaholic (I don't think this is actually a word, but i'm going to use it!) and can easily spend all day browsing shoe shops. It's probably my favourite pastime. On a single trip to Selfridges last August, I bought 3 pairs of shoes which set me back nearly £900. 1 pair of YSL Tribtoos and 2 pairs of Kurt Geigers. Again, with my eyes facing forward I marched straight past. 2 shops avoided, 1 to go...

The final temptation, which is also the Post Office's next door neighbour, was Top Shop. There is a pair of skinny faux leather leggings in here that I was hunting high and low for before Christmas, before realising I should probably check my local branch. Guess what? They had them in stock, but I never got a chance to go and buy them. So now was my chance to finally buy them having lusted after them for so long, right? Wrong! I walked straight past and virtually dived head first into the Post Office.

I can't tell you how hard it was for me to not pay attention to these shops, but I managed it and I managed it pretty well in my opinion.

And so tonight I think I deserve a reward of some sort... I think I may treat myself to a take away and maybe a glass of wine or 2. I'll be able to work it all off tomorrow as i'm heading to the gym about 8.30am. Yes, really.

So, 15 days in and the resolution is going strong. Here's to the next 15 days. Let's hope I can report back at the end of January that I haven't purchased anything on the forbidden list!

Have a good weekend my lovelies!

The first week....

Hey guys.

Thought I should post an update on my progress, considering the first week of January is now over (today's the 8th in case you're wondering!).

This week I've spent quite a lot of time in the evening browsing the internet, and yes, i've been on a number of clothing websites, including ASOS, Net-A-Porter, Next, Very, Top Shop, etc.

I've seen so many items of clothing that I want, and it's been all the more tempting to buy with so many items being marked down in the sales.

The bad news is I still have the urge to buy and have been adding numerous items to my basket, including clothes, shoes, jewellery and bags.

The good news is I haven't actually purchased anything! Not even a pair of tights, which recently i'd become rather partial to buying in the run up to Christmas.

I know it's only a week in to my resolution, but i'm so proud of myself! Usually by now, i'd have ordered at least a pair of shoes and a few items of clothing.

This is progress and I think I deserve a treat, so i'm off to order myself a pizza! Here's to the next week (small steps needed, not giant leaps).

I know next week will be harder as i'm starting to go to the gym, which as I mentioned in my first post, is slap bang in the middle of The Village in Westfield. I have to walk past Kurt Geiger and Ted Baker to get to it. I'll really need some willpower not to walk in on my way to GymBox!

Today i've also sorted through my shoe collection and will shortly be adding 10 pairs to eBay. Next step is to go through all my clothes as I really need to slim down my wardrobe. I think i'll tackle this tomorrow, as I can only part with so much in one day! ;-)

Wish me luck peeps and have a great weekend!

Somebody get me some willpower....

New years resolutions... I never make any as I know i'll always end up breaking them within 7 days of the bells chiming midnight on 31st December. This time however, i've decided to break with tradition and set myself some achievable resolutions that mainly resolve around shopping.

If you follow me on twitter (@SharonAnne99), you'll know that I have something of an addiction to shopping for shoes and clothes. On average, I buy 2 to 3 pairs of shoes a month (in the last week alone, i've purchased 2 pairs!). With regards to clothing, I purchase at least one item / piece / article of clothing a week.... minimum.

This has left me with the nightmare scenario of completely running out of space in both wardrobes for any more shoes or clothes. They are literally bulging at the hinges and will probably collapse under the weight of all the shoe boxes any day now.....

So my main resolution is to stop buying clothes and shoes that I don't need. And let's face it, I have so many clothes and shoes in my wardrobes that are brand new, that in reality I don't need to buy any for months. I would say years even, but that will bring me out in cold sweats as it's just too horrendous an idea to even contemplate.

So there we have it, my resolutions for 2011. You may think these will be easy to accomplish, but bear this in mind... I work opposite Westfield, my gym is in Westfield and I have to walk past my favourite shoe shop in the world (Kurt Geiger) to get to it!

This is probably going to be the hardest thing i've ever done, even harder than learning to walk again after 3 major spinal operations. I kid you not.

I'll keep you updated with my progress.... if I do buy something, i'll report back and you can shout at me. But when I report back that I haven't bought anything, I will expect a pat on the back and choruses of 'well done'!

I'm off to see if I can buy willpower on eBay, as something tells me i'm going to need some!

Wish me luck people!
